Mick Sinclair completed an undergraduate degree in law at Auckland University in 1976 and a Masters degree at London University in 1984. He spent five years practising in London in the field of media and sports law, and on return to New Zealand founded a specialist entertainment law practice now known as Sinclair Black.
Mick has substantial experience in negotiating and drafting agreements in the entertainment, media and sports industries; and in providing legal advice and opinions on the intellectual property issues specific to such activities. His legal career started in civil litigation and has continued in specialist areas of litigation such as intellectual property, defamation and privacy. As a consequence, he has developed a necessary expertise in assisting clients to resolve disputes by alternative means to litigation.
Mick has written a number of articles in entertainment journals and magazines, and given seminars on legal issues to organisations within the entertainment and sports industries. He has recently completed the entertainment law chapter for a prominent New Zealand legal publication entitled "The Laws of New Zealand".
Lisa graduated with an Honours degree from the University of Auckland in 2001; and has a broad background of experience, including several years working with a leading London entertainment and media lawyer.
Lisa has particular expertise in providing legal advice on television content and production agreements and also has expertise in the copyright, privacy and information technology/electronic commerce areas.
Lisa was formerly an executive member of Women In Film and Television ("WIFT") and still maintains links to this organisation.
Caroline Stone graduated with Bachelor of Arts from Otago University in 1987, and Bachelor of Law from Auckland University in 1991. She was admitted to the New York Bar in 1996, and has worked as a legal consultant/attorney in entertainment law in Japan and the United States.
Caroline also worked on a pro-bono basis for the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in New York, obtaining non-immigrant/immigrant visas for artists and negotiating contracts for the licensing and commercial application of art and design. |
